“Soundsystem” tracklisting announced… Trifonic all up on it

Electronica/breaks legend Hybrid is putting out a mix compilation album this July. And we’re very excited to say that our track Parks On Fire is going to be included on it, alongside tracks from Massive Attack, Trentemoeller, Gorillaz, and many more of the artists we love!

From the press release:

Widescreen breaks duo Hybrid mix up ambient electronica and film scores on a new mix compilation Soundsystem 01 due out in July.

Hybrid’s debut album Wide Angle (1999), which combined breaks and filmscore-like symphonies, earmarked the duo of Mike Truman and Chris Healings as doyens of so-called “cinematic breaks.” Now the pair take the filmic tag one step further on a new 2CD compilation. Disc one includes atmospheric electronica from Trentemoller, Spooky and Vector Lovers alongside actual film score selections from big screen hits Babel, Crash and 28 Days Later. On the second disc, the pair wear their more traditional progressive/breaks hat mixing up selections from Sasha, Quivver and Elite Force with their own new material.

Emergence, now available for remixing

I’m very happy to announce that individual source tracks from Emergence are now available for download on ccMixter. The source tracks include uncompressed instrumental stems and vocal a cappellas from our album — about 2GB worth of material in all.

The source audio is free to use and available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license.

We can’t wait to hear what you talented folks do with our stuff. I hope you’ll upload whatever you create to the ccMixter site — it’s a great place to share your work. You can register here if you’re not a member already. Either way, please send us links to wherever your creations live so we can see them!

Happy remixing. And a huge thank you to Victor, Teru, and spinmeister at ccMixter for coordinating this and helping us share these tracks. You guys rock.

Emergence on

We just uploaded Emergence to Amie Street. It’s a new-ish music site based on a pretty cool idea: track prices vary depending on how popular they are. All new songs start out free and rise in price as more people buy them, up to 98 cents.

So if you’re an Amie Street user or want to explore the site, check out our profile, link to us, download the album and help us climb the Amie Street charts!

“Emergence,” now available at a store near you!

We’re happy to report that Emergence is officially out and waiting for you in the following places: store
Physical CDs, pay-what-you-want download (mp3 or FLAC), and even a FREE mp3 download in case you’re still trying to decide how much you like us.

CD and download purchases from the Trifonic store include our BONUS producers commentary, a 30-minute audio file where we discuss the making of Emergence and our creative process track by track.

Get individual tracks or the entire album. Emergence is available in iTunes Plus format, meaning NO DRM and still just $0.99 a song!

Oh, and feel free to write us a nice review while you’re there.

Get the physical CD here. (Note: At the moment it’s listed as “out of stock,” but more CDs are en route to Amazon as I type. So you can still place an order and I assure you it will ship soon!)

Emergence should be available in even more places soon… we’ll keep you posted.

Emergence liner notes

In case you haven’t noticed, we added a liner notes page to the site where you can see all the credits and info for Emergence. Make sure to check out the track details section for specifics on each song and the gear list to see what we used to make the album.

If you want to know more about the making of Emergence and our studio set-up, you might want to check out our producers commentary, which is included with all CD and download purchases from the Trifonic store!

Finally, some new tunes

First off, welcome to the new and improved! Things are still a bit sparse here, but we’ll be adding a lot more content in the next couple months… so I strongly suggest you subscribe to our blog via RSS or email to stay up on all the latest Trifonic news and events. (If you don’t know what RSS is, first get back in your time machine and set it to 2008. I mean honestly… And then check out Google Reader or some other RSS aggregator. It will change your life, I promise.)

But I digress.

Those of you who know us know that we’ve spent the past year working on our debut album. And now it’s finally done! The album is titled Emergence, and it’s going to have 11 tracks on it. It will be available in late February right here on this site, as well as all the usual suspects (iTunes, Amazon, etc.). We’ll keep you posted.

For now, you can check out a few of the tracks that will be on Emergence here. Hope you enjoy!
